PHILADELPHIA — In this video, Michael Fisher, MD, highlights a keynote presentation given by Charles Limoli, PhD, at the International Symposium on Pediatric Neuro-Oncology.

Limoli, a professor and vice chair of radiation oncology at the University of California-Irvine, presented on the use of FLASH radiotherapy for quicker treatment delivery that spares normal tissue and improves outcomes.

“[If] you can give treatment doses of radiation without causing any of the neurocognitive issues, that would be transformative,” Fisher, a professor of pediatrics at University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine, said. “[FLASH radiotherapy] would open up the possibility of using radiation for young children that we would be hesitant to use it for.”
