Friends of Cancer Research is a nonprofit cancer research think tank and advocacy organization.

“We are honored to have Dr. Ed Kim join our board of directors,” Ellen Sigal, PhD, the organization’s chair and founder, said in a press release. “Ed has been a tireless advocate for patients and brings deep expertise as a treating physician and researcher that will be a critical addition to our diverse board of directors.”

Kim is one of the nation’s leading experts in molecular prognostication for lung cancer and head and neck cancer. Kim also has been recognized as one of the leading advocates within oncology for diversity, equity and inclusion, leading efforts to eliminate practices that exclude minority populations from clinical trials and contribute to gaps in research or patient care.

“It is an honor to join the board of directors of Friends of Cancer Research and help advance collaborations that power advances in science, policy and regulation,” Kim said in the release. “[Friends of Cancer Research] and City of Hope share a commitment to speeding life-saving treatments to patients and removing barriers to comprehensive cancer care.”
