ASTRO members receive fellows designation

American Society for Radiation Oncology selected 27 members to receive ASTRO fellow designation.

The honorees will be recognized during a ceremony at ASTRO Annual Meeting, scheduled for Oct. 23-26 in San Antonio.

ASTRO fellow designation honors individuals who made significant contributions to the society and radiation oncology through research, patient care, education or service to the field. Only 421 of ASTRO’s 10,000-plus members around the world have received FASTRO designation since 2006.

“On behalf of ASTRO, I commend these outstanding physicians and scientists for their far-reaching contributions to radiation oncology, including their leadership in advancing cancer research, education and clinical care to improve patient outcomes,” Laura A. Dawson, MD, FASTRO, chair of ASTRO board of directors, said in a press release.
