VIDEO: Diagnostic study may have "near-immediate impact" on clinical care for prostate cancer
In this video Kevin B. Ginsburg, MD, a urologic oncology fellow at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, discusses abstracts looking at focal therapy and active surveillance for prostate cancer patients presented at the American Urological Association's annual meeting.
One study, by a group at Loyola University in Chicago, looked at men with PI-RADS 3 lesions to determine which patients within that category should undergo a biopsy. There is still a burden in biopsying all men with PI-RADS 3 lesions, Ginsburg told Healio.
"They really did a great job of helping identify which men with P-RADS 3 lesions should undergo a biopsy," he said. "Once this study is published and peer reviewed, it's going to make a near-immediate impact in clinical care
