VIDEO: T1D Exchange explores solutions to diabetes inequities
NEW ORLEANS — In this video exclusive, Osagie Ebekozien, MD, MPH, CPHQ, describes recent findings from T1D Exchange research on inequities in type 1 diabetes care.
Ebekozien is a population health researcher and executive vice president and chief medical officer at T1D Exchange.
Even with overall increases in diabetes device use and improvements in HbA1c outcomes in the U.S. over the past 6 years, benefits have not been equal across racial and ethnic groups. Ebekozien explains the role of implicit bias among providers about race and insurance in continuing inequities. He reviews some steps T1D Exchange is pursuing to address disparities.
