In this video, Michelle L Litchman PhD, FNP-BC, speaks with Diabetes in Real Life columnist Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDN, CDCES, FADCES, about the benefits of peer support for people with diabetes and their families.

Litchman, who is a nurse practitioner and assistant professor of nursing at the University of Utah College of Nursing, explains that interacting with someone who has the same condition can provide a sense of normalcy that interacting with a health care provider does not. Online and in-person support groups are adapting to the conditions of COVID-19, she said.
