Video: Thyroid cancer anxiety persists years past diagnosis

WASHINGTON — In this video exclusive, Maria Papaleontiou, MD, assistant professor of internal medicine in the division of metabolism, endocrinology and diabetes at the University of Michigan, discusses the substantial impact worry about thyroid cancer recurrence and death exerts on quality of life for years following treatment.

Papaleontiou and colleagues examined survey data from nearly 2,000 adults with differentiated thyroid cancer 2 to 3 years after treatment. More than a third reported difficulty completing daily activities due to continuing concern over thyroid cancer.
