PHILADELPHIA — In this video exclusive, Darren K. McGuire, MD, MHSc, professor of medicine in the division of cardiology, Dallas Heart Ball Chair for Research on Heart Disease in Women and Distinguished Teaching Professor at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, provides an update on the cardiovascular efficacy of new diabetes agents.

“We’re in a brand-new space in diabetes where cardiovascular disease is being moved with antihypertensive or glycometabolic medications,” McGuire said here.

McGuire discusses the current arsenal of diabetes therapies with proven CV efficacy, prescribing by health care professionals beyond endocrinologists or diabetologists and expanding these evidence-based therapies to other high-risk populations.
