VIDEO: AADE addressing place of diabetes educators in changing health care landscape
INDIANAPOLIS — In this video exclusive, Endocrine Today Diabetes in Real Life columnist Susan Weiner, MS, RDN, CDE, CDN, talks with AADE president Nancy D'Hondt, RPh, CDE, FAADE, and president-elect Donna Ryan, MPH, RN, RD, CDE, FAADE, about challenges facing diabetes educators today.
Staying current with technology is a key difficulty, D’Hondt said. AADE is currently building a “technology institute” to help educators keep up by providing background research and data on different digital products for members.
Identifying the place of diabetes educators in changing health care models is another area that must be addressed, Ryan said. AADE has engaged a “visioning company” to analyze the strengths and positioning of the organization to better define where diabetes educators fit, Ryan said.
