A social media campaign where people share their stories with diabetes, called This Is Diabetes, was launched by the American Diabetes Association to coincide with American Diabetes Month in November, according to a press release.

“Too often, diabetes goes unnoticed in our society, but it’s a health care crisis that needs and deserves all of our attention,” Kevin L. Hagan, CEO of the American Diabetes Association, said in the release. “Through this year’s theme, This Is Diabetes, we want to bring more attention to this disease that affects our family members, friends, neighbors and colleagues and show how important it is to take urgent action to address diabetes and its devastating complications.”

The campaign is empowering Americans to share their stories with diabetes on social media through stories, videos and pictures and by using #ThisIsDiabetes. ADA will also be spreading these messages through their platform.

In addition to awareness, the ADA hopes to educate people about diabetes and inspire them to get involved. More information can be found at diabetes.org/adm.
