Mobile health solution for Digital Diabetes Coach Program may come from collaboration

A new collaboration was recently announced to create a secure, mobile self-management system for people with chronic health conditions, according to a press release from Rescon Technologies Ltd. and Dispersive Technologies Inc.

The new system will combine Rescon’s Lincus app with Dispersive Virtualized Networks and be demonstrated as part of the West of England Academic Health Science Network Internet of Things (IoT)-based Digital Diabetes Coach Program.

“Health care professionals and industry analysts recognize the many benefits of health care IoT,” Tom Dawson, PhD, founding director of Rescon Technologies, said in the release. “These include more effective monitoring, therapeutic stratification, and earlier, more targeted interventions. All can reduce health care costs and improve patient outcome; however, there are real cyber risks that must be addressed.”

“Health care IoT devices that require always-on network connectivity are inherently vulnerable to attack,” Robert W. Twitchell, Jr., president and CEO of Dipersive Technologies, said in the release. “Here, we have the ability not only to improve the quality of life for our patients, but also help them avoid the stress of having their health information stolen or, worse yet, their IoT device hacked.”
