The Endocrine Society is joining the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force in the call for increased research related to preventive services for women.

In the “Fifth Annual Report to Congress on High-Priority Evidence Gaps for Clinical Preventive Services,” the USPSTF highlighted several endocrine-related areas, including screening for thyroid dysfunction, vitamin D deficiency and osteoporosis.

The Endocrine Society is urging Congress to provide at least $32 billion to the National Institutes of Health in Fiscal Year 2016. The funds would help with biomedical research funding for advancing cured, improving treatments and preventing disease.
