SAN DIEGO — In this Healio video perspective here at the American Academy of Dermatology, Brett King, MD, PhD, FAAD, discusses how new Janus kinase inhibitors have changed the paradigm of alopecia areata treatment.

“We’ve come in a very short period of time from having absolutely nothing to this sort of revolution that [Janus kinase (JAK)] inhibitors have brought to dermatologists and our patients,” King said.

King, associate professor of dermatology at Yale School of Medicine, discusses the latest research being presented during the meeting showing the long-term safety and efficacy of JAK inhibitors for the treatment of alopecia areata.
