ATLANTA — In this Healio video exclusive, Seth S. Martin, MD, MHS, FAHA, discusses research into lipid disorders from the American College of Cardiology Scientific Session, examining the AEGIS II study on HDL cholesterol.

Martin, a cardiologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital, professor of medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Healio | Cardiology Today Editorial Board Member, discussed the study, which examined the effects of a plasma-derived apolipoprotein A-I on patients who had an acute MI.

“It’s not confirmation, but it’s a hypothesis-generating result, that begs the question, ‘Is the clinical importance of cholesterol efflux really present in the group that still has high LDL?’” Martin said.
