Sanofi recalls epinephrine injectors

Sanofi U.S. voluntarily recalled all Auvi-Q epinephrine injectors due to concerns that the products may deliver inaccurate doses, according to a company press release.

Sanofi reports that it has received 26 reports of suspected device malfunctions both nationwide and in Canada. In those cases, patients have reported symptoms of underlying hypersensitivity reactions. However, no fatal reactions have been reported.

Auvi-Q (epinephrine injection, USP) is used to treat anaphylaxis in people at risk for deadly allergic reactions.

Sanofi has urged patients to immediately contact their PCP for an alternate epinephrine auto-injector.
