Arches Health Plan joins Symptomly to offer mobile app for asthma patients

Arches Health Plan has joined Symptomly to provide a mobile health app for its members with asthma, according to a press release.

The Symptomly platform has a “web-based dashboard, mobile app and communication portal” for primary care providers and patients with asthma to track patient-centered health symptoms, the release said. By using a smartphone or computer, patients can manage their symptoms remotely and work with their doctor in keeping their asthma under control while helping to stem health care costs.

Symptomly will send a weekly electronic survey to patients with moderate to severe asthma, with responses divided into green, yellow or red “zones.” Patients and doctors will receive an alert if the patient approaches a red zone, according to the release.

“Arches’ founders understood that to truly bend the cost curve they would need to provide innovative solutions to both our members and providers,” Josh Nelson, vice president of provider network development at Arches, said in the release. “Telemedicine solutions like Symptomly allow us to facilitate more effective treatments.”

Arches Health Plan is a nonprofit health insurance option for Utah residents.

Symptomly’s Asthma Tracker for childhood asthma has been used to reduce asthma readmissions, according to the release.
