The Endocrine Society updated its osteoporosis clinical practice guideline to include recommendations for romosozumab, noting that the monthly injection therapy is an “effective option” for postmenopausal women at high risk for fracture, according to a society press release.
Zoledronate infusion preserves BMD gains after denosumab discontinuation for women with osteoporosis
Postmenopausal women with osteoporosis who received a single infusion of zoledronate after 2 to 5 years of denosumab therapy retained more than half of bone mineral density gained before stopping treatment with no increase in vertebral fractures, according to findings published in the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research.

USPSTF backs osteoporosis screening in women, not men
In an update to its 2011 recommendations, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends screening with bone measurement testing to prevent osteoporotic fractures in women aged at least 65 years and in postmenopausal, high-risk women younger than 65 years.
