SAN FRANCISCO — In this video exclusive, Sarah Horvath, MD, MSHP, describes the current shortage of Rh immunoglobulin and outlines strategies for ethical use of the limited supply.

Horvath provides complex family planning and is an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology in the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Penn State University College of Medicine.

“It’s really important that we’re conserving our Rh immunoglobulin supply for those times when we have robust evidence to support [its use],” Horvath told Healio.

She discusses which patients should be given Rh immunoglobulin at what point in pregnancy and how to identify them.
