PHILADELPHIA — In this video exclusive, Hugh S. Taylor, MD, talks about the relationship between endometriosis and menopause.

Taylor is the Anita O’Keefe Young Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences, professor of molecular, cellular and developmental biology, and chair of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at Yale School of Medicine.

“For someone with painful periods associated with endometriosis ... menopause can often be thought of as a welcome relief,” Taylor said.

But menopause often comes with classic symptoms, such as hot flashes. Taylor discusses considerations for hormonal and non-hormonal therapies for women with endometriosis.
