NEW YORK — In this Healio Video Perspective from the American Psychiatric Association Annual Meeting, Stefanie Simmons, MD, FACEP, chief medical officer of the Dr. Lorna Breen Heroes’ Foundation, discusses the Frontline Connect toolkit.

“We know that there are three forms of stigma that prevent health care workers from receiving care,” Simmons said. “[There are] internal stigma — what does mental health care say about me; external stigma — what are my colleagues going to feel about me receiving mental health care; and institutional stigma.”

The toolkit can help leaders in health care develop a culture that encourages mental well-being, ensuring that health care workers have access to the help they need, Simmons said.
