A nonprofit that helps sexual abuse survivors has partnered with a mental health firm to enable survivors to access quality counseling through a network of mental health care providers.
Help;Hear;Heal provides scholarship grants to underwrite therapeutic care for survivors of sexual abuse, according to a release from the organization. Thriveworks, founded in 2008, aims to make high-quality counseling and psychiatry services accessible and affordable with more than 340 clinics in 42 states and Washington, D.C., per the release.
“Through my own family’s experience, I have seen how the stigma of sexual abuse and the challenges of accessing mental health care due to prohibitive cost, lack of access or both, can make it really difficult for survivors and their families to gain the therapeutic care they desperately need,” Todd McKay, founder and president of Help;Hear;Heal, said in the release.
While typical wait times for mental health care can range between 4 and 6 weeks, Thriveworks’ 3- to 5-day turnaround policy works to ensure survivors are connected to the care they need fast. Individuals will have the option of booking and attending appointments in person or online, as well as access to extended-hour scheduling assistance and flexible cancellations, the release stated.
“We were moved by Help;Hear;Heal’s mission and are proud to support their goals in making high-quality mental health services more accessible to sexual abuse survivors at the scale Thriveworks’ footprint provides,” David Drap, executive vice president of external partnerships at Thriveworks, said in the release.
