NEW ORLEANS – Clinicians need to do a better job screening for mild cognitive impairment, Brent P. Forester, MD, MSc, said at the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting.

“There are a number of models of care that have been developed in the past 2 decades that have been shown to not only reduce overall medical expenditures — such as emergency room visits and health care costs associated with hospitalizations — but are also shown to improve quality of life of the individual with dementia,” Forester said.
