NEW ORLEANS – Decreased work hours, more treatment, and better sleep and shift length can help address the high rate of depression among training physicians, according to a speaker at the American Psychiatric Association annual meeting.

Srijan Sen, MD, PhD, director of the Frances and Kenneth Eisenberg Family Depression Center at the University of Michigan, said the largest driver of depression was found to be work hours, which have decreased over the last 15 years.
