Massachusetts General Hospital has been named the number one hospital for psychiatric care in America for 2019 to 2020, according to the U.S. News & World Report.

According to the report, the top five hospitals for adult psychiatric care were:

  1. Massachusetts General Hospital
  2. McLean Hospital
  3. Johns Hopkins Hospital
  4. New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell
  5. Menninger Clinic

Both Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and McLean Hospital, last year’s top-ranking hospital for psychiatry nationwide, are affiliates of Harvard Medical School. MGH also ranked second after Mayo Clinic on the Best Hospitals Honor Roll 2019 to 2020 for delivering exceptional treatment across multiple areas of care.

U.S. News compared more than 4,500 medical centers throughout the U.S. in 16 specialties and nine procedures and conditions to determine the 2019 to 2020 rankings and ratings, according to the release. For psychiatry, ranking was determined entirely by expert opinion, based on responses from 3 years of surveys from physician specialists.
