SAN DIEGO — In this video, J. John Mann, MD, of Columbia University and New York State Psychiatric Institute, discusses how science can aid clinicians in recognizing individuals at high-risk for suicide.

“In the United States in the last 15 years, the suicide rate has risen 28%,” Mann told Healio/Psychiatry. “Now, over 44,000 people are dying every year [from suicide].”

He explains four research-based indicators clinicians should look for to determine if an individual is at high-risk for suicide.
