Palo Alto Health Sciences Inc. recently announced a partnership with Silicon Valley TMS to provide the Freespira program for individuals with panic disorders.

“Freespira is an excellent fit with our clinics because we can now offer patients the most advanced, medication-free and evidence-based treatments for depression, anxiety and panic. It is not uncommon for patients suffering from depression to also suffer from other mental health conditions, including panic attacks and panic disorder,” Saad A. Shakir, MD, founder and chief medical officer of Silicon Valley TMS, said in a press release. “We’re happy to provide the most effective care to our patients and community. Freespira provides an innovative approach to treat panic attacks and panic disorder without using medications. This complements the other modalities of treatment that we provide within our multidisciplinary and comprehensive group practice.”

The Freespira program is a comprehensive, medication-free treatment for individuals who experience panic attacks or panic disorders.

After receiving training from technicians, individuals take Freespira home to perform two 17-minute breathing sessions per day for 4 weeks.

Individuals are remotely observed and coached by a practice coordination team at Palo Alto Health Sciences.

After 4 weeks of treatment, individuals attend a follow-up visit at a clinic.

“Freespira offers hope to the many patients with panic attacks and panic disorder who prefer a nondrug approach because of the side effects of medications, or who have not tried or have not responded to talk therapies,” Debra Reisenthel, CEO of Palo Alto Health Sciences, said in the release. “We are excited to partner with Dr. Shakir and Silicon Valley TMS to offer the Freespira program to help even more patients in the San Francisco Bay Area.”
