National Network of Depression Centers partners with APA on registry

The APA recently announced a collaboration with the National Network of Depression Centers on PsychPRO, the APA’s national mental health registry.

“This is an exciting time for the [National Network of Depression Centers (NNDC)] to join the American Psychiatric Association in this clinical quality improvement initiative to improve depression care,” Ray DePaulo, MD, chairperson of the NNDC Board of Directors, said in a press release. “Our growing collaborative network can provide the research expertise needed to maximize the value of data generated through the APA PsychPRO Registry and accelerate important work being done in the field of mood disorders.”

PsychPRO was launched by the APA in fall 2016 to help psychiatrists deliver high quality care and meet new MACRA reporting requirements.

The registry enables psychiatrists to collect and submit quality reports and provides a secure avenue for patients to share information with clinicians.

The APA projects that the registry will serve as a research tool in the future, helping psychiatrists better understand mental health conditions, develop new treatments and improve patient outcomes.

“We are pleased that the National Network of Depression Centers has joined our PsychPRO registry initiative,” Saul Levin, MD, MPA, CEO and medical director of the APA, said in the release. “We look forward to working with NNDC and the sharing of their expertise in registries and the potential for collaboration on research in the future.”
