APA launches mental health registry

The APA recently launched Psychiatric Patient Registry Online, or PsychPRO, a national mental health registry to help psychiatrists provide quality care and meet new MACRA requirements.

“We are pleased to offer this important tool to help psychiatrists meet new quality reporting requirements and maintain professional recertification, and we are excited about the research potential of this valuable resource for our patients and for the nation,” Saul Levin, MD, MPA, CEO and medical director of the APA, said in a press release.

The clinical registry will help clinicians collect and submit quality reports and allow patients to provide information to their provider securely.

Clinicians can submit data for professional recertification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology through the registry.

A Registry Oversight Workgroup will report to the APA Board of Trustees and will oversee PsychPRO.

An advisory group of PsychPRO participants will help the APA improve the registry over time.

Sheppard Pratt Health System was the first major health system to join PsychPRO and Harsh K. Trivedi, MD, MBA, president and CEO of Sheppard Pratt Health System, will chair the PsychPRO advisory group.

“As the nation’s largest nonprofit provider of psychiatric and substance abuse services, we are proud to be the first health system to support the APA in establishing a patient registry,” Trivedi said in the release. “We feel that it is imperative to give people the ability to make informed decisions about their care through meaningful outcomes data. We also want to support dedicated physicians and care providers so that they may more easily report quality data and maintain their board certification.”
