The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices has given a suite of computerized cognitive behavioral therapy programs from Magellan Health its highest rating.

Magellan Health has partnered with the Mental Health Association of New York City to provide support via telephone, text and chat for individuals using Magellan’s suite of online computerized CBT programs.

Their first collaboration, iHelp: Sandy Stress Relief, launched in 2014 to provide computerized CBT to more than 4,000 New York residents who experienced emotional distress following Hurricane Sandy.

“We are proud that SAMHSA has recognized the effectiveness of the online cognitive behavioral therapies that [Mental Health Association of New York City] is using to deliver care to individuals who might not otherwise have access to services,” Kathryn Salisbury, PhD, executive vice president of the Mental Health Association of New York City, said in a press release. “Technology is not only helping us deliver effective care how and when it is needed, but it is helping people overcome the stigma of seeking behavioral health services.”
