SAMHSA appoints CBHSQ, OPPI leadership

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recently appointed Daryl Kade, MA, as the director of the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality and Monica Feit, PhD, as director of the Office of Policy, Planning, and Innovation.

As director of the Center for Behavioral Health Statistics and Quality (CBHSQ), Kade will lead and manage center operations and staff, in addition to a portfolio of data collection and analytic contracts. She will serve as a guiding role as SAMHSA increases its senior scientific professional presence within the CBHSQ.

Daryl Kade

Previously, Kade served as acting director of the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and as director of the office of financial resources at SAMHSA. She has worked for the Office of National Drug Control Policy as the budget and legislative analyst responsible for drug treatment and prevention programs.

As director of the Office of Policy, Planning, and Innovation (OPPI), Feit will be responsible for leadership and management of policy issues at SAMHSA and with external stakeholders.

Feit joined HHS as director of the Division of Public Health Services in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in 2013. Prior to this permanent appointment, she has been serving as acting director of the OPPI.

Previously, Feit worked as a senior program officer at the Institute of Medicine, leading health policy studies on integration of primary care and public health.

The appointments go into effect on April 3.
