VIDEO: Suicide prevention requires efforts at all organizational levels

LAS VEGAS — In this video, Jill Harkavy-Friedman, PhD, vice president of research at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, provides effective strategies to prevent suicide.

“Suicide is everybody’s business,” Harkavy-Friedman told Healio.com/Psychiatry. “In mental health centers and behavioral health centers, it’s important for the whole organization to have an approach for suicide prevention. That they have a plan, create an environment that is conducive to saving lives, everybody is tuned up and has the necessary knowledge, and also there’s compassion for the staff who are working with people who may be suicidal.”
