SAMHSA fills legislative roles to facilitate Congress outreach
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recently announced the appointment of Peggie Rice, BA, MPS, to legislative director, and Brian Payne to legislative analyst.
Rice has served as a legislative analyst with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Legislation at HHS, where she handled many SAMHSA-related issues before Congress. She has most recently served as a health policy analyst at the CDC’s Washington, D.C., office.
Payne also has significant experience working with public health-related matters in Washington, D.C., according to a SAMHSA press release.
In their new roles, Rice and Payne will increase SAMHSA’s outreach to Congress and other stakeholder groups on the nation’s current and future behavioral health care needs.
