July 26 marked the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which was signed into law in 1990.

The ADA guarantees American citizens with disabilities, including mental health and substance use disorders, receive the same benefits as Americans without disabilities, as it prohibits the government, employers, educational institutions and businesses from denying benefits, jobs, or access based on stereotypes or unfounded concerns.
