During the month of June, which marks LGBT Pride Month, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration is focusing on improving behavioral health disparities among vulnerable populations.

The lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community has unique health experiences and needs, according to SAMHSA, and often faces inequalities associated with prejudice, discrimination and denial of civil and human rights.

This month, SAMHSA encourages health care professionals, patients and the public to celebrate progress toward the LGBT community’s health and well-being.
