In an effort to end the stigma surrounding mental illness, the National Alliance on Mental Illness has teamed up with Philosophy, a health and beauty brand, to launch the StigmaFree campaign.

The campaign encourages individuals, companies, organizations and campuses to replace the stigma often associated with mental illness with hope and support for recovery.

As May marks mental health awareness month, it is an opportune time to increase education and awareness of mental health and how to best address it.

“Stigma free environments promote and support acceptance and respect, while encouraging the help-seeking that makes recovery possible. It is our hope that this campaign will drive individuals and their families to be open about mental illness and get the help they need,” Mary Giliberti, JD, executive director of NAMI, said in a press release.

To support the campaign and a stigma free culture, use the hashtag “iamstigmafree,” on social media.
