VIDEO: Pediatric vaccine updates discussed at IDC New York

NEW YORK – Mark H. Sawyer, MD, discussed what’s new in pediatric vaccinations during his presentation at the 2017 Infectious Diseases in Children Symposium.

Sawyer, a professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine who practices at Rady Children’s Hospital San Diego, discussed developments in the past year, including using one repeat hepatitis B vaccine instead of three doses for infants who did not respond to the first dose of the vaccine at birth and were born to mothers at high risk.

Among other developments, he discussed giving a third dose of the MMR vaccine, which is typically a two-dose vaccine.
