VIDEO: Concussion treatment draws on ‘old school optometry’
LAS VEGAS – Optometrists who treat patients with concussion will need to assess binocular vision problems, accommodative issues and oculomotor issues, a clinician said at Vision Expo West.
“The gist of what an OD needs to know in regard to treating our patients who have concussions goes back to our old school optometry,” Valerie M. Kattouf, OD, said.
Optometrists can help these patients “just by brushing up their skills,” she said.
