VIDEO: Consult with OB/GYN when treating pregnant patients
LAS VEGAS – Pregnant patients have a special subset of concerns and needs, Cecelia Koetting, OD, FAAO, who practices at Hines-Sight in Denver, said at Vision Expo West.
“When in doubt, talk with the patient’s OB/GYN,” she said. “There is no shame in asking for their help and asking for their opinion.”
Monitor these patients closely, Koetting said, “especially if they have pre-diabetes or high blood pressures or other comorbidities that might flare up or worsen during pregnancy.”
