BOSTON – The majority of subjects surveyed indicated they experienced a dry eye flare at least once during a 12-month period, according to a poster at the American Academy of Optometry annual meeting.

“We should ask patients about these flares and what they’re doing to manage them when they’re occurring,” co-author Kelly K. Nichols, OD, MPH, PhD, FAAO, said. Of the nearly 2,000 adults surveyed, about 80% “reported they wanted something more effective than what they were doing when they were having flares.”
