Jessica Steen, OD, FAAO, says that her lecture at this year’s SECO meeting on retinal breaks covered personalized treatment paths for patients, including those who may go on to develop retinal detachment.
“We talk about the treatment options for patients with retinal detachment, the importance of early detection and timely treatment and referral in certain circumstances,” Steen said. “It’s important for optometrists to understand not only the diagnosis of these conditions but what treatment options exist for our patients to best be able to holistically counsel patients with retinal break or retinal detachment.
