Medical management company signs its first OD group

Medical Optometry America announced an agreement by which Associates in Eyecare, made up of 10 offices based in northern Virginia and Washington, will become its first group of independent optometric practices to adopt the brand.

“[Medical Optometry America] will provide independent optometrists the ability to participate in building a brand and practice management system that stands for exceptional medical eye care and inspires consumer confidence and demand for those services,” CEO Ken Krieg said in a press release from Medical Optometry America (MOA).

MOA said in the release that the group will allow for optometrists to shift towards a sustainable medical model. This system focuses on the creation of an educational platform that promotes the adoption of best practice protocols. Practices that join MOA have the opportunity to be part of a national brand that is identifiable to patients, referring doctors, insurance companies and vendors.

“Many of us have known for some time that medical eye care is the future of our profession,” Robert Allen, OD, CEO of Associates in Eyecare, said in the release. “The state-of-the-art MOA system will allow our practices, and thousands more around the country, to accelerate this necessary advancement.”

MOA said in the release that its member practices will “benefit from the patientcentric

marketing programs designed to drive consumer awareness and new patient traffic.” The group said its goal is to bring the best practices from academic and clinical perspectives to every office.
