LAS VEGAS – Diabetes and hypertension are two of the most common systemic diseases that optometrists may uncover during an eye exam, Jeff Gerson, OD, said here at Vision Expo West.
“Then what becomes important is not just who do we refer them to as far as their eye condition, if that’s needed, but where do we send our patients that need systemic help?” he said.
Disclosure: Gerson reports no relevant financial disclosures.
