VIDEO: Contact lens type determines post cross-linking fitting schedule

ST. LOUIS – Clinicians should consider the keratoconus patient’s priorities, whether it be comfort or ease of handling, when choosing a contact lens after corneal cross-linking, Clark Chang, OD, MSA, MSc, FAAO, of Wills Eye Hospital and TLC Laser Eye Centers, said here at Optometry’s Meeting.

The epithelium should heal for about 3 or 4 weeks before fitting scleral, hybrid or piggyback lenses, he said, “where if you use soft lenses or a corneal gas-permeable lens, you may need a little more time.”
