Peter Scott

Peter Scott, CAE, APR, MBA, will assume the position of executive director of the American Academy of Optometry in mid-April, according to an announcement from the AAO.

Lois Schoenbrun, CAE, FAAO, the current executive director, will retire from her post at the end of April. She has held the position since 1996.

Scott most recently served as the COO for the North American Veterinary Community in Orlando, Fla., where he led the planning and implementation of one of the world’s top 15 global medical conferences, according to the AAO. He officially begins his role on April 11.

“Peter brings with him a wealth of ideas for our meeting, fundraising and strategic relationships. He is a delightful person who has boundless energy and a very creative mind," Barbara Caffery, OD, PhD, FAAO, said in the announcement. "We are deeply appreciative of all that Lois Schoenbrun has done during her time with the academy, and we wish her all the best as she heads off to her much-deserved retirement."
