Tangible Science LLC unveiled a new system of products, Tangible Clean and Tangible Boost, designed to ensure that custom contact lenses coated with Tangible Hydra-PEG are effective throughout the prescribed life of the lens.

Tangible Hydra-PEG, a polymer coating that is permanently bonded to custom contact lenses, minimizes lens deposits and fogging as well as improves lens surface water retention, lubricity and patient comfort, the company said in a press release.

Tangible Science CEO Vic McCray, MD, corresponded with Primary Care Optometry News regarding the new Tangible Hydra-PEG system and products to come.

“There has not been a lot of innovation in custom contact lens care to date. We intend to improve the custom contact lens experience for both patients and eye care professionals,” McCray wrote. “By creating a unique system that includes Tangible Hydra-PEG coating, Tangible Clean daily cleaning solution that protects it and Tangible Boost, a monthly in-home treatment that rebuilds it should there be any wear over time, we are doing just that. Using all three products should prevent deposits, fogging and discomfort for the prescribed length of custom contact lenses. Clean and Boost will be available later this year.”

As mentioned by McCray, Tangible Clean is a daily use, multipurpose, cleaning and disinfecting solution created to protect the Tangible Hydra-PEG coating on custom contact lenses. Tangible Clean will be available in early 2019.

Tangible Boost is a monthly conditioning solution that restores the Tangible Hydra-PEG coating and its benefits. According to the company’s release, Tangible Boost should be available later this year, pending FDA clearance.
