SECO International will hold its annual conference Feb. 20-24, 2019, at the New Orleans Ernest Morial Convention Center.

The conference has been held in Atlanta since 1957, and SECO noted in a press release its aim to use the new location as an opportunity to recraft its educational offerings to the optometry community.

The expanded range of topics will focus on improving procedures for treating patients and running a successful practice. Education hours can be earned over the duration of the conference, which includes Saturday and Sunday sessions.

SECO is offering tailored conference packages for optometrists, allied health professionals, faculty and students, with group discounts.

The event will showcase products and services from 250 optometry companies and feature a lineup of keynote speakers.

“Because we have this beautiful new city and convention center to convene the optometric community, we have taken this as an opportunity to look at SECO programing and event offerings with a new lens,” SECO International President Emilio Balius, OD, told Primary Care Optometry News. “As we make this move to New Orleans, we have carefully considered the needs of the industry. As a result, we are offering new flexible conference package pricing allowing attendees to customize their experience.

“We are also hosting more than 30 continuing education hours over the weekend, because we know it is not always easy to attend during a busy patient care week,” Balius added. “SECO leadership wants to ensure that there is something for everyone who wants to join.” – by Joe Gramigna
