OrCam Technologies Ltd. introduced voice commands for the OrCam MyEye 2 and OrCam MyReader 2 artificial vision devices as part of its latest software update.
Users who are facing complications from blindness, are partially sighted, have reading difficulties or experience reading fatigue will be able to ask their device to perform certain functions in the latest update. It also gives users a range of other new features, including Bluetooth connectivity and barcode learning.
OrCam devices use artificial vision technology to communicate vital visual information via audio to users. While OrCam MyEye can instantly read text off of any surface, it can also recognize faces, products, barcodes and currency notes.
The new voice recognition feature will give users access to menu options by speaking certain commands to their device, such as “tell time,” “speak faster,” “speak slower” and “connect to Bluetooth audio device.”
Supported by OrCam MyEye, other new features in the new software include Bluetooth connectivity and barcode learning. Bluetooth connectivity will allow OrCam users to pair their OrCam MyEye or OrCam MyReader device with Bluetooth compatible headphones or speakers.
The new barcode learning mode allows users to instantly identify their favorite products by scanning the barcode.
The new software is available to all existing OrCam users and is downloaded automatically when the device is connected to Wi-Fi.
