Sandra Bailey, Brien Holden Vision Institute board member, will be formally appointed as the company’s director at an Oct. 31 board meeting, the institute announced in a press release.
Bailey is set to take the place of Brian Layland, OAM, former chair and director, following his resignation. Frank Back will step in as the new chair of the institute.
“Frank Back, new chair of the institute, joins me and our fellow directors in expressing our profound gratitude to Brian for his leadership and significant contribution to the institute over more than 30 years,” Yvette Waddell, MBA, CEO of Brien Holden Vision Institute (BHVI), said in the release.
Effective immediately, Bailey will assume Layland’s functions in her temporary role as alternate director.
Bailey has received several awards throughout her career in the Aboriginal health sector, most notably the Australian Government Centenary Medal for Contribution to Health and the Hall of Fame award at the 2014 NSW Health Aboriginal Health Awards.
