Essilor of America is showing an educational trailer in 1,800 movie theatres around the U.S. in October in an effort to raise awareness and promote comprehensive eye exams.

The trailer shows a young girl struggling to see clearly in class and while playing. Her mother takes her for an eye exam, where she receives a pair of glasses that bring everything in focus.

Essilor stated in a press release that 42% of Americans between the ages of 12 and 54 years have myopia, an increase of 25% in the last 40 years. The company said new research shows that 49% of children with myopia experience difficult in the classroom, only 41% of parents noticed their children were suffering with myopia, and 38% of parents of children with myopia say their children have difficulty playing sports.

The voiceover in the trailer states, “When a child’s life is out of focus, the cause isn’t always clear. Take your child for a comprehensive eye exam and learn more about myopia at EssilorUSA.com.”
