Opternative Inc. announced its new ability to route a patient’s online vision test results to a web portal.

There, doctors can make recommendations regarding the results, prescriptions or more comprehensive eye exams.

Rather than having its own network of doctors reviewing all patient results, Opternative’s eye care providers who offer online vision tests can identify a doctor or doctors to review online test results, the company announced in a press release.

Eliminating the need for one-on-one appointments, unless necessary, Opternative streamlined its patients’ experience of receiving their new prescriptions.

Ayo Jimoh, chief technology officer of Opternative, lauded the company for its advancements in patient, provider and doctor communication.

“This new feature allows eye care providers and eye wear retailers to offer their patients the convenience of telemedicine and still remain at the forefront of their eye care,” Jimoh said in the release. “We strive to help our partners empower their business, and this technology aligns with that goal.”
